Collin Gosselin: Serving in the Marines Is His Only Major Wish in Life

Despite Kate Gosselin and ex-husband Jon Gosselin being off reality TV for years, their names remain in the headlines due to updates in their personal lives and their relationships with their children. This includes Collin Gosselin, who Kate publicly discussed when she decided to place him in an in-patient facility for his mental health. Now, years later, Collin has spoken about that experience and why he left the Marines before completing basic training.

In 2023, Kate revealed that for her well-being and the safety of Collin and his siblings, he had been placed in a facility for his mental health. Currently, Collin lives with his dad Jon. He is in contact with only one sibling and appears to have no contact with the rest of his family.

In April 2024, Reddit users noticed that Collin wasn’t listed in any public records of the Marines, where he had been undergoing basic training. At the time, there was speculation that his absence resulted from the mental health evaluation process.

On August 13, 2024, Collin confirmed this in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. He explained that his history of in-patient treatment had been an issue during his mental health evaluation.

“I was discharged,” Collin revealed. “I was towards the end of training, very close to graduating. The paperwork was looked into, and they found out that I was, in fact, in an institution at one point in my life and they [didn’t] need any deeper reason.”

Although he is prepared to start college, Collin hasn’t given up hope on serving in the Marines. He shared that there are “very few other wishes in life” that rank higher than being a Marine.

Collin lives with his dad and one of his siblings, his sister Hannah Gosselin. However, according to him, he doesn’t have a relationship with Kate or his other siblings who are closer to her. Collin mentioned that he believes he would be “very good friends” with his brothers and sisters.

After years of uncertainty regarding his whereabouts and mental health, Collin is unafraid to speak out. He even said there’s a “good possibility” he would return to reality television at some point, though not in a full-time capacity. Whether this will materialize remains unknown, but Collin’s voice is now more prominent than ever.
