Courteney Cox Was Eyeing Her Co-Star During ‘Ace Ventura’ Filming

Howard Stern once welcomed the ladies of the Friends cast, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow, to his SiriusXM show. During the interview, Cox revealed a co-star crush, while Aniston opened up about her marriage to Brad Pitt.

Courteney Cox didn’t openly confirm or deny any romantic involvement with her crush but mentioned they became good friends off the set, and he often made her laugh. Howard Stern playfully suggested that he would have tried to set things in motion if he were in the actor’s position.

Jim Carrey starred as Ace Ventura in the 1994 comedy movie Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, with Cox playing Melissa Robinson. The two quickly bonded thanks to Carrey’s humorous nature. Cox recalled that although he seemed ordinary at first, he would burst into character once filming commenced.

Cox confirmed that their rapport grew into chemistry, yet she was evasive about the details that followed. While promoting the film in the ‘90s, she praised Jim Carrey, noting that despite his serious and intense side, he was always funny.

Ace Ventura was a significant career milestone for both Carrey and Cox. The film highlighted Carrey’s talent to Hollywood, encouraging fans to hope for a reboot decades later. However, Carrey has shown reluctance to revisit the role unless a visionary like Chris Nolan is involved. The cult classic earned over $95 million at the box office and won numerous accolades, including the American Comedy Award in 1995.

Later, Carrey collaborated with Cox’s close friend Jennifer Aniston in the 2003 film Bruce Almighty. Their on-screen chemistry as a TV couple sparked rumors of romantic attraction. At the time, Aniston was married to Brad Pitt, and Carrey mentioned seeing Pitt on set a few times.
