Courtney Taylor Joins Maggie Q in Amazon’s Renée Ballard Series

Courtney Taylor has been cast as a series regular opposite Maggie Q in Prime Video’s Untitled Renee Ballard Series, a spinoff of Bosch.

The Untitled Renée Ballard series follows Detective Renée Ballard (Q), who is tasked with running the LAPD’s new cold case division. This division is a poorly funded, all-volunteer unit with the largest case load in the city. Ballard approaches these frozen-in-time cases with empathy and determination. When she uncovers a larger conspiracy during her investigations, she’ll lean on the assistance of her retired ally, Harry Bosch, to navigate the dangers that threaten both her unit and her life.

Taylor will portray Samira Parker, a wary, impulsive, and tough woman with a burning desire for justice. Growing up, most everyone Samira knew shared a healthy distrust of the police. However, her grandfather, whom Samira admired as a child, was on the force and believed in using his police badge to protect and aid his community. Nevertheless, being a cop now is a different kind of challenge than it was back then.

Five years after leaving the police force, Samira’s former mentor, Renee Ballard (Q), convinces her to return to the LAPD’s Cold Case Unit. Here, she works to rectify the wrongs of the past and bring peace to families and victims. In the process, Samira slowly restores her own sense of justice.

Renée Ballard’s character will first be introduced in the Season 3 finale of another Bosch spinoff, Bosch: Legacy, before headlining her own series.

Jet Wilkinson serves as executive producer on the Renée Ballard series alongside Michael Connelly, Trish Hofmann, Michael Alaimo, and Kendall Sherwood. Henrik Bastin and Melissa Aouate executive produce for Fabel Entertainment, with Jasmine Russ serving as co-executive producer. Additional co-executive producers include Jamie Boscardin Martin and Trey Batchelor, with Theresa Snider co-executive producing under Hieronymus Pictures.

Taylor was recently a lead on the Netflix comedy series Neon. Her other series credits include recurring roles on Abbott Elementary, Insecure, and The Company You Keep. She will next be seen in the film Out of My Mind, which premiered at Sundance and will be released by Disney+. Taylor is represented by CAA, Anonymous Content, and Del Shaw Moonves Tanaka.
