Cover Art for RuriDragon Volume 2 Unveiled

RuriDragon has been steadily releasing new chapters throughout the year, gearing up for the release of Volume 2 of the manga in Japan. RuriDragon made its debut in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2022, quickly gaining popularity among fans. However, after releasing Chapter 6 in 2022, the series took a hiatus lasting two years before returning with Chapter 7 earlier this Spring.

Since resuming, RuriDragon has released 13 more chapters and continues at a steady pace with no signs of slowing down. With enough chapters now available, Volume 2 of the manga is set to hit shelves across Japan on September 4th. To celebrate the announcement, creator Masaoki Shindo shared the cover art for the new volume.

If you’re interested in reading Masaoki Shindo’s RuriDragon manga, the latest chapters are available for free through Viz Media’s digital Shonen Jump library or Shueisha’s Manga Plus service. Fortunately, there are no current plans for another hiatus, so fans can expect new chapters to continue being released regularly. The first volume of the RuriDragon manga is expected to have a physical release in the United States in Spring 2025, though no specific date has been set.

During the initial hiatus in 2022, Shueisha shared a message regarding Masaoki Shindo’s health, “Due to the poor physical condition of Masaoki Shindo, RuriDragon will enter hiatus starting Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #35. The series was already absent from Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #33, and the editorial department sought a sustainable schedule while addressing the mangaka’s health. After discussions with Masaoki Shindo, it was decided a break was best to ensure the series could continue in optimal conditions in the future.”

The message continued, “We will announce the series’ comeback in future Weekly Shonen Jump issues. We apologize to all readers who were looking forward to the series and kept sending comments and letters. We will do our best to bring back Ruri’s daily life, and we appreciate your support for RuriDragon in the future.”
