Cringeworthy Moments Between Kimberly Guilfoyle and Donald Trump Jr.

Unlike other heated moments on “The View,” it was no surprise that Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle’s 2019 appearance on the show turned contentious. The couple was invited to talk about Don’s new book, “Triggered.” However, political differences between the guests and hosts quickly led to several arguments.

Meghan McCain, in particular, directly confronted Don Jr. about his father’s harsh rhetoric toward gold star families, other politicians, and even her own father, John McCain, who had passed away. McCain addressed these issues gently yet pointedly, underscoring the pain Trump’s comments had caused.

Don Jr. defended his father, claiming that no president had been attacked as much as his own and that Trump Sr. was simply retaliating. Given the sensitive context of Trump’s remarks on gold star families, McCain and her co-hosts found this explanation unsatisfactory.

Kimberly Guilfoyle quickly jumped to Don Jr.’s defense, sharing her personal experiences of loss to connect with Meghan. She mentioned, “I understand your loss. Yesterday was the anniversary of my mother’s passing. [Don Jr.] woke me up with a kiss and said, ‘Princess, I know this is a hard day for you.'”

Guilfoyle further argued that the Trumps were victims as well, frequently facing attacks on their family. However, the hosts weren’t swayed. Whoopi Goldberg countered, “Part of being president is having a pair that can take whatever heat comes towards you” (via YouTube).
