CW star Kennedy McMann lands her first lead role in a film!

Fans of The CW’s pre-Nexstar era roster are always eager to know where their favorite stars are heading, especially now that most shows have ended, barring All American and soon, Superman & Lois. Among these shows was Nancy Drew, a modern supernatural take on the classic sleuth tale. Enthusiasts of Kennedy McMann, who played the titular character, were thrilled with the news that she would be starring in an upcoming film.

The film, however, isn’t the Nancy Drew movie fans have been yearning for, nor has there been any confirmation on a possible film continuation of that universe. Nonetheless, admirers of McMann can look forward to her potentially transitioning into a film star role.

According to Deadline, McMann will be acting opposite Saturday Night Live alum Alex Moffat in the indie comedy Brewmance. The film narrates an unexpected love story between Amber, a “headstrong brewery owner,” and Samuel, a “slick marketing strategist.” Though they initially clash over how to save Amber’s failing business, sparks begin to fly as they collaborate to reinvent and rejuvenate the brewery.

This storyline might feel right at home on the Hallmark Channel, but with Moffat in the cast, audiences can expect plenty of laughs. Fans of Nancy Drew will attest to Kennedy McMann’s impeccable comedic timing, which was evident throughout the show’s four-season run. One particularly memorable instance was in season 2, episode 10, titled “The Spell of the Burning Bride,” where McMann’s character becomes remarkably lusty after being dosed by a wedding dress.

Joining McMann and Moffat in Brewmance are Jamey Maurice Clay, Zoe Colletti, Joel de la Fuente, Jessica N. Jimenez, Caroline Kingsley, Hannah Mosqueda, Steven Ogg, and Kirk Roos.

Although the release date for Brewmance has yet to be announced, McMann shared on her Instagram that she would keep fans updated regarding the movie’s premiere and where it will be available. This suggests that the rom-com might be released on a streaming platform, though that’s not confirmed. She also expressed her deep affection for the project, calling it “super special” to her.

“You GUYS. you guys. this movie is so good. IT’S SO GOOD!!!! And the people who made it are good and that’s even better. You will laugh a lot and maybe cry a little bit because of the warmth in your little heart. It’s so super special to me & I think it will be for you too maybe. I had sooooooo much fun. Stay tuned — I’ll update with when and where ya can watch it xo,” McMann wrote.

Seeing Kennedy McMann back onscreen will be a treat, and the dedicated Drew Crew will undoubtedly support this film wholeheartedly. Stay tuned for more updates and coverage on this project.
