Dan Levy Warns Dad Eugene Against Joking About His Eyebrows in 2024 Emmys Promo

ABC has unveiled the first promotional video for the 76th Emmys, set to be hosted by the father-son duo Dan Levy and Eugene Levy. The promo takes a light-hearted approach with a clever dad joke, aligning perfectly with the unique charm the duo brings.

In the clip, Dan humorously advises Eugene to avoid low-hanging “eyebrow” jokes, but Eugene playfully ignores the advice. The promo was aired on Tuesday night during ABC’s primetime slot, which included the season finale of “The Bachelorette.” This release coincides with the ramp-up to the Emmy Awards season, with Creative Arts Emmys scheduled for this weekend, September 7 and 8, at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Television Academy announced the lineup of presenters for the first night of the Creative Arts Emmys. Notable names include LeVar Burton, Mark Cuban, Nikki Glaser, Derek Hough, Phil Keoghan, Lucy Liu, Jane Lynch, breakdance Olympian Victor Montalvo, and Hannah Waddingham.

Additional presenters comprise Garcelle Beauvais, Jonathan Bennett, Mike Birbiglia, Dani Bowman, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Barbara Corcoran, comedian Matt Friend, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec, David Isaacman, Daymond John, Kristen Kish, Ariana Madix, Katie Maloney, Tig Notaro, Abbey Romeo, Masi Oka, Kevin O’Leary, Melissa Peterman, and Fisher Stevens.

The hosting gig for this year’s Emmys, set for Sunday, September 15, live on ABC with a next-day airing on Hulu, was announced last month. “For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” the Levys stated in their joint announcement. “We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all on September 15.”

Eugene and Dan Levy will collaborate closely with Emmy producers Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay of Jesse Collins Entertainment, who received acclaim for the last Emmy telecast hosted by Anthony Anderson. This year marks the first time a father-son duo will host the Emmys; they’re also only the second duo to do so this century, following Colin Jost and Michael Che in 2018.

Leading up to the hosting responsibilities, Eugene Levy is nominated for his Apple TV+ series “The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy,” in the category for outstanding hosted nonfiction series or special.
