Danielle Fishel’s Husband Jensen Karp Proudly Supports Her During Cancer Battle

Danielle Fishel and Jensen Karp

Jensen Karp is showing his unwavering support for his wife, Danielle Fishel, as she navigates her recent breast cancer diagnosis.

Karp, a film producer, took to his Instagram Story to highlight his pride in Fishel for raising awareness about her health struggles. He shared an article about her diagnosis on August 19, stating, “I’m so proud of @daniellefishel for using her platform to raise awareness.”

He emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups, noting, “We can’t miss appointments and we need to get checked.” Directly addressing Fishel, he affirmed, “She’s the strongest person I’ve ever met. She’s got this.”

Danielle Fishel, known for her role in “Boy Meets World,” announced her diagnosis during an episode of her podcast, “Pod Meets World.”

The 43-year-old actress revealed that she has been diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), a non-invasive form of breast cancer. She explained that the condition was detected at a very early stage, classified as stage zero, which typically does not pose a life-threatening risk.

“I was recently diagnosed with DCIS, which stands for ductal carcinoma in situ, a form of breast cancer,” Fishel shared during her podcast episode. “It is very, very, very early. It’s technically stage zero. To be specific, I was diagnosed with high-grade DCIS with micro-invasion.”

She expressed her confidence in her prognosis, stating, “I’m going to be fine. I’m having surgery to remove it,” and mentioned plans for follow-up treatment.

Fishel is at the beginning of her treatment journey. During her podcast, she acknowledged the significant choices ahead regarding her care, mentioning that she intends to consult with her oncologist, a radiation therapist, and other medical experts.

According to the Mayo Clinic, DCIS occurs when cells within a breast duct undergo DNA changes leading to an excess of cells. Importantly, in the case of DCIS, the cancer cells do not yet have the ability to spread beyond the duct into the surrounding breast tissue.

The actress shared her experience with her audience to urge others to prioritize their health by scheduling mammograms. “The only reason I caught this cancer when it is still stage zero is because the day I got my text message that my yearly mammogram had come up, I made the appointment,” Fishel explained. “They found it so, so, so early that I’m going to be fine. I hope it will encourage anyone to get in there.”

Fishel and Karp, who have been married since 2018, are parents to two sons: Adler, 5, and Keaton, 2. Their relationship has blossomed over the years, evolving through various stages, including parenting and working together.

Through this difficult time, Karp’s support and Fishel’s determination serve as a reminder of the importance of health awareness and regular screenings in the fight against cancer.
