David Beckham to Speak at RTS London Event for UK TV Industry

David Beckham will address the great-and-the-good of the UK TV industry at next month’s RTS London, with Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy set to give her first major keynote in the role.

The footballing icon is the latest in a lineup bursting at the seams with big names. He will be in conversation with Sister boss Jane Featherstone at the King’s Place event.

Beckham, a former Manchester United and England great, is the co-founder of Studio 99, the company behind productions such as Save our Squad with David Beckham and Ronnie O’Sullivan: The Edge of Everything. Additionally, Studio 99 produced last year’s Netflix documentary about Beckham himself. Just recently, a documentary focusing on Victoria Beckham was unveiled at Edinburgh, which was also produced by Studio 99 alongside Sister-backed Dorothy Street Pictures.

The RTS London’s theme is The Next Episode: Keeping Our Creative Edge. Beckham is part of the final batch of speakers joining the lineup, which includes Culture Secretary Nandy, Sky Studios boss Cécile Frot-Coutaz, and ITN CEO Rachel Corp.

Nandy is expected to give her first major keynote in her role as Culture Secretary, outlining her priorities for the creative industries. Other notable speakers include Netflix’s Ted Sarandos, BBC Director-General Tim Davie, Channel 4 CEO Alex Mahon, and Thursday Murder Club author Richard Osman.

Theresa Wise, CEO of the Royal Television Society, commented, “This year’s RTS London Convention has an outstanding roster of speakers from around the globe. The Convention team has curated what is set to be an engaging day, filled with dynamic and challenging discussions.”

RTS London takes place on Tuesday, September 17.
