David Henrie & Selena Gomez Reunite for ‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’ Reboot

Disney has released a first look at its upcoming sequel series, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, a continuation of the beloved Wizards of Waverly Place series.

The two-minute teaser aired during the premiere of Descendants: The Rise of Red on the Disney Channel. This sneak peek included behind-the-scenes footage, showcasing David Henrie’s Justin Russo and Selena Gomez’s Alex Russo, along with another familiar face, David DeLuise, reprising his role as Jerry Russo.

While Selena Gomez is serving as an executive producer for the reboot, her appearance is currently limited to the first episode. “This is where it all started,” Gomez said in the first look. “We’re home.”

In Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, we follow an adult Justin Russo who has chosen to live a normal, mortal life with his wife and two sons. However, when Alex arrives at his doorstep with Billie, a wizard-in-training played by Janice LeAnn Brown, Justin realizes he must rekindle his magical abilities.

Now, Justin must mentor Billie while balancing his everyday responsibilities and safeguarding the future of the wizard world.

Besides Henrie, the cast also includes Alkaio Thiele, Max Matenko, Taylor Cora, and Mimi Gianopulos.

David Henrie previously shared his excitement about reuniting with Selena Gomez for the reboot. “It was awesome. We didn’t want it to end. It was great,” Henrie remarked about working together again after more than a decade. “She’s so good. She has such a quick wit that’s only gotten stronger.”

Viewers can expect Wizards Beyond Waverly Place to debut on Disney Channel and Disney+ later this year.
