The entertainment world is mourning the loss of actor Obi Ndefo, known for his roles in “Dawson’s Creek” and “Star Trek,” who passed away at the age of 51.

Ndefo’s passing was confirmed by his sister on Saturday, August 31, through a heartfelt Facebook post. She expressed, “Heartbroken at the loss of my younger brother and knowing he’s finally at peace.” She did not disclose the cause of death.

In a devastating incident in 2019, Ndefo, known for his role as Bodie Wells in the teen drama “Dawson’s Creek,” endured the loss of both his legs after a car crashed into him while he was parked in Los Angeles.

Despite the tragedy, Ndefo maintained an inspiringly positive outlook. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, he remarked, “This is just so horrendous what happened to me, why would I compound this by feeling bad about it?” His resilient spirit shone through as he added, “There is no other choice for me. So there’s a sort of rigor to me, and I think, ‘OK my legs are severed. I don’t know how to do this, but I know how to do this.’”

Ndefo played Bodie Wells on “Dawson’s Creek” from 1998 to 2002. His character was the brother-in-law of Joey Potter, portrayed by Katie Holmes.

Following the announcement of his death, tributes began to pour in from his co-stars. Mary-Margaret Humes, who played Gale Leery on “Dawson’s Creek,” took to Instagram to share her grief and admiration for Ndefo. She wrote, “These words don’t come easy. It’s hard for me to conceive that you have left us, my dear friend.”

Rest in peace sweet warrior.”
