Deadpool & Wolverine Ending Explained: What Happened?

If there is anything that Deadpool & Wolverine reminded us, it’s that timelines are still fragile. While Loki season 2 allowed the continuation of multiple timelines, things are more complicated than ever as Wade tries to save his own timeline (and many others) from being destroyed for good by Cassandra Nova. But just how will they take her down and how exactly did this all go down?

Here’s the ultimate breakdown of the ending of Deadpool & Wolverine.

Okay, so Wade Wilson, AKA Deadpool, and Wolverine are in The Void, a place where pruned items and people end up after their timelines have been pruned. After teaming up with other forgotten heroes, they try to use Colossus’ helmet against Cassandra to get her to take them back to their own timelines. However, they realize that they can’t keep her from using her powers, as that would prevent them from being able to go back.

They let her go, and she uses one of Doctor Strange’s sling rings to get them back to Earth-10005, Wade’s original Earth. However, the TVA are already there, ready to use a Time Ripper to completely get rid of the timeline.

Oh, if only it was that simple. It is revealed that Cassandra also plans to use the Time Ripper, but to get rid of every single timeline in order to send everything into the void so she can be the most powerful being of all time.

After fighting a giant wave of Deadpools, they see that Nova has essentially started to take over the Time Ripper. In order to be able to stop her, they must sacrifice themselves to keep the power of the device from effectively working. Deadpool and Wolverine fight each other, but Deadpool tricks Wolverine and goes to stop it himself, allowing Logan to live.

Wolverine didn’t like that, so he breaks down the door and joins Deadpool in trying to stop the device.

Shockingly, no! Because they both tried to stop the device, they were able to survive! There’s a hot scene with Wolverine without a shirt, and then we see B-15 arresting Paradox for going against the TVA.

Deadpool asks her to send the Others back to their original timelines, while also sending Logan back in time to stop his from being destroyed. However, B-15 notes that Wolverine’s journey is the reason why he was able to help Logan save his timeline, making him an anchor in Earth-10005.

At a party at Wade’s apartment, Logan and Laura meet the rest of Wade’s friends while Wade, in an effort to go back to the way he was, chats again with Vanessa.

We absolutely have no idea! But it is a good ending for both Wolverine and Deadpool, so there’s a chance this might be it for them. Then again, that Marvel money may say otherwise, so…we’ll see!
