Death in Paradise’s Josephine Jobert Looks Different in New Drama

Joséphine Jobert, beloved for her role as DS Florence Cassell in the BBC’s long-running crime drama “Death in Paradise,” is ready to embark on a new adventure. After her character’s departure at the end of series 13, where Florence sailed off into the sunset with DI Neville Parker (played by Ralf Little), Jobert is set to star in an upcoming detective drama that presents her in a completely new light.

Joséphine will share the screen with Canadian actor Allan Hawco in the new police procedural titled “Saint-Pierre.” This series focuses on two seasoned detectives who must team up to solve unique and perplexing crimes.

In a recent joint Instagram post with the show’s official account, Joséphine offered a glimpse of her new character, Deputy Chief Geneviève ‘Arch’ Archambault. The behind-the-scenes post showed Jobert taking promotional shots for the series, with the caption: “Main character moments with @josephinejobert_official.”

Viewers who remember Jobert’s brightly-colored wrap dresses and flowing dark hair from “Death in Paradise” will be surprised by her new look. In her latest role, she dons black trousers, a matching roll-neck jumper, and a beige trench coat, with her hair pulled back into a ponytail.

Excited fans quickly commented on the post, with one saying, “Looking forward to seeing you back on the little ol screen,” while another added, “Main character energy.”

So, what’s the premise of “Saint-Pierre”?

The official synopsis explains that after Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Inspector Donny ‘Fitz’ Fitzpatrick delves too deeply into a local politician’s nefarious activities, he is exiled to work in Saint-Pierre et Miquelon, a French territory located in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Newfoundland.

Fitz’s arrival disrupts the life of Deputy Chief Geneviève ‘Arch’ Archambault, a Parisian transplant who has her own intriguing reasons for being in Saint-Pierre. The show promises a unique police procedural featuring French star Jobert and Canadian star Allan Hawco, with James Purefoy rounding out the stellar team.

The storyline continues: “As if by fate, these two seasoned officers — with very different policing skills and approaches — are forced together to solve unique and exciting crimes. Although the islands seem like a quaint tourist destination, the idyllic façade conceals the worst kind of criminal activity, which tends to wash up on its beautiful shores. Initially at odds and suspicious of each other, Arch and Fitz soon discover that they are better together… a veritable crime-fighting force.”

Sadly, fans will have to wait a little longer to see the show, as it’s slated to premiere on the Canadian channel CBC Television in the winter of 2025.
