Deepika Padukone Jokes About Pregnancy in Recent Interview

Deepika Padukone recently made headlines at the pre-release event for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ in Mumbai. The actress, who is expecting her first child, looked stunning in a sleek black bodycon dress that highlighted her baby bump. During the event, she shared a humorous moment with her co-star Prabhas, attributing her pregnancy belly to his generous culinary skills on set.

The event featured the film’s lead cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Prabhas, who took the stage to discuss the highly anticipated movie. When it was Deepika’s turn to speak, she playfully teased Prabhas, saying, “I’m actually like this because of all the food Prabhas fed me.” Her comment left Prabhas laughing, as she elaborated, “It got to the point where it was a full catering service, not just food from home. He feeds from the heart.”

Prior to the event, Deepika shared several pictures on Instagram, captioning her post, “Okay enough…Now I’m hungry!” The couple announced their pregnancy on February 29, with the baby due in September. Deepika and Ranveer Singh, who tied the knot on November 14, 2018, at Italy’s Lake Como after six years of dating, frequently express their affection for each other on social media.

Following ‘Kalki 2898 AD,’ Deepika will be seen in ‘Singham Again,’ the third installment of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe. She will star as Lady Singham alongside an ensemble cast featuring Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Arjun Kapoor.

The highly-anticipated ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ pre-release event was held in Mumbai tonight. The film’s entire cast and crew, including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, director Nag Ashwin, and others, graced this much-awaited promotional event. Tollywood actor Rana Daggubati donned the role of an anchor for a brief time at the event.

When the mom-to-be Deepika went on the dais to speak, proudly flashing her baby bump, Rana jokingly told her, “You are still in the character,” referring to Deepika’s pregnant character in ‘Kalki 2898 AD.’ Being the spontaneous sport that she has always been, Deepika replied, saying, “The movie went on for about three years, and I was like, why not for a few more months?”

Talking about ‘Kalki,’ Deepika said, “It’s been an incredible and big learning experience. Like Mr. Amitabh said, it’s a completely new world. We went through different phases of discovering what this movie was about. But the magic in Nagi’s (Nag Ashwin) head is now here, finally, for everyone to see. We, as actors, have discovered that along the way. It’s been an incredible experience at both personal and professional levels.”

Also starring Bollywood actress Disha Patani in a key role, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is scheduled for its world theatrical release on June 27. Veteran filmmaker Ashwini Dutt has bankrolled this mammoth project. Acclaimed Tamil music director Santhosh Narayanan has composed the music.
