Def Leppard and Journey Launch 2024 Tour: Setlists and Videos

Def Leppard and Journey launched their North American co-headlining tour in St. Louis at Busch Stadium on Saturday, joined by supporting act Cheap Trick.

The majority of Def Leppard’s set featured songs from their iconic albums Pyromania and Hysteria, which made up 13 of their 18 songs. They surprised fans by adding “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)” back to their setlist, a track they hadn’t played live since 2015. Another notable addition was “Comin’ Under Fire,” which had only been performed live once before during an intimate session at SiriusXM’s the Garage.

Journey’s set included many of their classic hits such as “Only the Young,” “Faithfully,” “Wheel in the Sky,” and their grand finale, “Don’t Stop Believin’.” They opened with “Faith in the Heartland,” a gem from their Generations album that has been making occasional appearances in their recent performances.

Cheap Trick kicked off the night with a strong, hour-long set filled with hits like “Dream Police,” “If You Want My Love,” “The Flame,” “Surrender,” and “I Want You to Want Me.” They’ll continue to support Def Leppard and Journey on select dates, sharing duties with the Steve Miller Band and stepping in for Heart, whose 2024 North American tour dates have been postponed for Ann Wilson’s preventative chemotherapy.

The tour will continue until early September.

Def Leppard promises fans a brand-new stage show for the 2024 tour. With over 80 shows under their belt from 2022 to 2023 alongside Motley Crue, the British rock legends are hitting the road again with a fresh single, “Just Like ’73.” Guitarist Phil Collen mentioned in a recent interview that the band has completely revamped their stage production, a change that also influenced their set design and performance style.

“We changed the whole set,” Collen said. “You know, there’s a whole screen [production] and we’ve been using pretty much the same stuff for like 12 years. So we’ve changed it completely. The stage show is drastically different. It’s going to take a lot of energy. There’s going to be a lot of running around. So I’m working out, trying to get the stamina up and all of that. Vocally, too. You know, I’m having to sing every single day.”

Journey, despite internal conflicts over the past few years, have also been diligently touring as part of their Freedom tour, named after their 2022 album. Despite public feuds between Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain, the group has kept their focus on the music.

“We just decided that the music is the music,” Schon recently shared. “We worked really hard and diligently on keeping this thing alive all these years, and just not let the other stuff get in the way and kind of keep it separate.”
