Bachelor Nation star Demi Burnett revealed a few years ago that she was diagnosed with autism. Since then, she has shared insights into how her life has transformed positively.

Many first encountered Burnett during Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor. Although she was eliminated in Week 6, Burnett later appeared on Seasons 6 and 7 of Bachelor in Paradise. In 2022, Demi Burnett publicly announced her autism diagnosis on social media. Reflecting on her journey in the two years since her diagnosis, Burnett emphasizes how it has led to a higher quality of life. She revealed a recent accolade on Instagram, where she graced the cover of the August-October 2024 issue of Autism Digest.

Burnett shared her excitement on Instagram: “I’m on the cover of Autism Digest 😱🤯Thank you, I am honored! 🥹 When I share my experience, I am sharing for the people who relate. Y’all help me feel so much less alone.”

The magazine article excerpted on Bachelornation.com highlights Burnett’s reflections on her life post-diagnosis, noting a newfound sense of peace and self-acceptance. “My life is now so much more wholesome and I’m protecting my own peace. I feel like I’m cooler than I’ve ever been and it’s not even on purpose this time!” she said. Having a support system helps her navigate moments of overwhelm and overstimulation.

“The most important thing is always having a buddy who I can rely on. If I give them the look like ‘help me!’ they know to grab my arm, follow me, and help me get some space,” Burnett explained.

Burnett offered advice for those on the autism spectrum who face dating challenges, sharing her experience from the Bachelor franchise. Despite being celibate since her diagnosis, she remains optimistic and encouraging.

She advised, “There are people out there who are going to support you and understand you and love you. Don’t give up. There are brighter days ahead.” Indeed, her diagnosis has empowered her, providing a sense of clarity and direction that seemed elusive before.
