Dems File Election Complaint Over Ex-President’s Interview with Musk

An organization focused on Democratic political actions has lodged a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), contending that Donald Trump’s interview with Elon Musk on Monday night constituted an unlawful corporate contribution to his presidential campaign.

This complaint, submitted by Ends Citizens United, argues that the interview breached regulations prohibiting corporate donations to federal candidates. They also maintain that the usual media exemption does not apply in this scenario.

The group’s filing points out that the significant resources of Musk’s platform, known as X, were deployed to host Trump. They claim that the event provided substantial support to his campaign. The complaint went on to highlight that Musk actively promoted Trump during the interview, engaging in express advocacy on his behalf.

In addition to this, the United Auto Workers (UAW) union has filed a separate complaint with the National Labor Relations Board. They accuse both Trump and Musk of intimidating workers with remarks made during the interview.

The UAW’s official account on X released a video on Tuesday that captured a segment of the interview where Trump mentioned Musk supposedly firing a group of striking workers. However, the specifics of this claim remain unclear, leaving it uncertain whether he referenced an actual event.

On a related note, Musk expressed his willingness to host a conversation with Vice President Kamala Harris on the same platform.
