Did Johnny Depp and Jenna Ortega Ever Date?

Jenna Ortega is setting the record straight on rumors about her dating Johnny Depp.

In an interview with BuzzFeed Celeb published on August 26, the actress quashed the whispers, stating unequivocally that she has never dated Depp. “I don’t know that person. It’s so insane to me. I never spoke on that. I never said anything like that,” Ortega told the outlet.

The speculation had plenty of people curious about the supposed romance, including her Death of a Unicorn co-star Richard E. Grant. Grant even went so far as to ask Ortega if she and Depp were an item. “I laughed because I don’t know that person,” Ortega said.

Rumors of a relationship between Depp and Ortega first surfaced in August 2023. Ortega quickly dismissed the gossip through an Instagram Stories post shortly after the rumors started circulating. “This is so ridiculous I can’t even laugh. I have never met or worked with Johnny Depp in my life. Please stop spreading lies and leave us alone,” she said in her post via NME.

The conjecture grew so intense that Depp’s spokesperson felt compelled to issue a statement to clear the air. “Mr. Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Ms. Ortega whatsoever. He has never met her or spoken to her. He is not involved in any project with her, nor does he intend to be. He is appalled by these baseless and malicious rumors that are intended to harm his reputation and career,” the spokesperson told NME.

Despite the frenzy, Ortega remains focused on her career. She is set to star in the upcoming movie Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which is set for release in theaters on September 6.
