Director teases ‘a lot’ of cameos in Deadpool and Wolverine film

Deadpool is poised to make a grand entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with his third theatrical film. This time, he’s bringing Wolverine along for what is shaping up to be an epic adventure that could alter the universe as fans know it. But these two iconic characters won’t be the only ones fans should look out for. The film’s director is already hinting at numerous surprise appearances that are set to pepper the movie.

Shawn Levy, the film’s director, provided some tantalizing details in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. He mentioned that there would be “a lot of characters” making their way into Deadpool and Wolverine’s latest escapade. While Levy didn’t delve into specifics, he suggested that these cameos would be scattered throughout the film, urging audiences to keep their eyes peeled.

He emphasized that although the film would feature many cameos, they wouldn’t overshadow the core story. “We didn’t want any of the cameos or characters to be the focal point of the movie,” Levy explained. “But they are peppered in throughout. There’s a lot of characters. The internet is abuzz with rumors about the multitude of character cameos that are in this movie. Some rumors are true; some are way off base.”

Among the characters confirmed to appear are Aaron Stanford’s Pyro and Tyler Mane’s Sabretooth. Stanford first took on the role of Pyro in 2003’s X2: X-Men United, where he played a friend of Iceman and Rogue. His character, eventually swayed by Magneto, became one of his trusted allies in X-Men: The Last Stand.

Tyler Mane’s Sabretooth was first introduced in the original 2000 X-Men film as a member of Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants. Sabretooth engaged in several clashes with Wolverine throughout the film, ultimately facing defeat in the climactic battle at the Statue of Liberty. The character was later portrayed by Liev Schreiber in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where Sabretooth and Wolverine were depicted as half-brothers.

Speculation abounds regarding who else might make an appearance. One enduring rumor suggests that Jennifer Garner could reprise her role as Elektra Natchios in the film. First reported by The Hollywood Reporter in July 2023, this rumor has neither been confirmed nor denied by Marvel Studios or anyone associated with the film.

Fans have been meticulously examining Deadpool and Wolverine’s promotional materials, searching for hints about potential cameos. Among the characters that fans have speculated to spot in trailers and advertisements are Lady Deathstrike, Azazel, and Toad. With so much buzz, it’s clear that Levy and his team have plenty of surprises in store for audiences.

Deadpool and Wolverine is set to hit theaters on July 26, 2024, and it’s a date many fans have circled on their calendars. With the promise of numerous cameos and the return of beloved characters, this film is shaping up to be a standout entry in the MCU, and fans are eagerly awaiting each new revelation.
