Discover the Strange Darling soundtrack with Fear TWD’s Keith Carradine

Strange Darling is a new thriller directed by JT Mollner that is deemed the horror must-see of 2024. The movie features The Walking Dead‘s Kyle Gallner, who has previously starred in The Haunting in Connecticut, Jennifer’s Body, and the 2010 remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Adding to its Walking Dead universe connections, Keith Carradine, known for his role as John Dorie Sr. in Fear the Walking Dead, contributes to the movie’s soundtrack alongside singer/songwriter Zberg.

Mollner directed and wrote Strange Darling. He is recognized for his first feature film, Outlaws and Angels, which stars Chad Michael Murray. The movie was produced by former Miramax CEO Bill Block, Chris Ivan Cevic, Steven Schneider, and Roy Lee under the banners of Miramax and Spooky Pictures. Strange Darling had its premiere in 2023 at Fantastic Fest. The film’s theatrical release is scheduled for August 23, and it boasts an impressive 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Strange Darling synopsis: Nothing is what it seems when a twisted one-night stand spirals into a serial killer’s vicious murder spree.

The movie was shot on 35mm film by Emmy and Screen Actors Guild award nominee Giovanni Ribisi, who also makes a cameo appearance. Gallner (Smile, Scream 5) plays the Demon, while Willa Fitzgerald (The House of Usher, Scream – the series) portrays the Lady. The cast also includes Barbara Hershey, Ed Begley Jr., Jason Patric, Madison Beaty, Bianca Santos, and Steven Michael Quezada.

The trailer (below) indicates to viewers that “this is a dramatization of the true story of the final known killings of the most prolific and unique American serial killer of the 21st century.”

The official soundtrack for Strange Darling is set to be released on August 23, coinciding with the movie’s debut. The album includes a haunting rendition of “Love Hurts,” a song originally performed by the Everly Brothers in 1960 and later by Nazareth in 1974. The soundtrack presents a new version of the classic arrangement by Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons. The cover is performed by Zberg and Academy Award-winning Keith Carradine. Take a listen below.


Zberg is a former member of Mark Ronson’s teenage girl group, The Like, and later, Phases, an LA dream-pop group. She has successfully transitioned into a solo career, with her music featured in various films and TV shows, including the Grammy-nominated album Aurora for Prime Video’s Emmy-winning Daisy Jones & The Six series. The soundtrack for Strange Darling marks her debut as a solo artist in soundtrack production.

Keith Carradine comes from the illustrious Carradine family of actors, including his father John, brothers Christopher and Robert, half-brothers Bruce and David, and Michael Bowen. Known for notable roles such as Wild Bill Hickok on HBO’s Deadwood, Frank Lundy in Showtime’s Dexter, and Penny’s father on CBS’s The Big Bang Theory, Carradine is also an accomplished musician.

His brother David once remarked that Keith could master any instrument, from bagpipes to the French horn. Carradine successfully merged his talents in music and acting, earning a Golden Globe and an Oscar for Best Original Song for “I’m Easy” from the film Nashville. He released two albums with Asylum Records, I’m Easy (1976) and Lost & Found (1978).
