It’s no secret that Downton Abbey stars Michelle Dockery and Michael Fox share a deep passion for music, having formed a musical duo and toured together.

The duo, who initially met on the set of the beloved TV period drama, were signed by Decca Records Label Group in 2022. Recently, they made an exciting announcement on their official Instagram page.

The message read: “SURPRISE! Michael & Michelle will be performing a one-off, very special show at London’s iconic Union Chapel on Thursday, 12th December 2024. Tickets go on sale at 10am this Friday, 5th July. Watch this space for how to get yours!”

On Michael’s Instagram page, he added: “Union Chapel 12/12/24 @michaelandmichelle Hope to see you there lovely people x.”

Fans quickly reacted with enthusiasm. One commented, “This will be special [heart emoji].” Another added, “Exciting news! We will be there.” A third follower said, “Can’t wait to see you again [heart emoji].”

This isn’t the first time the actors have performed together. They hit the road last year, traveling across major cities nationwide. After becoming close friends during filming, Michael and Michelle soon discovered their shared love for music.

They connected immediately, both vocally and instrumentally. Michael had always been involved in bands, exploring a range of styles from indie to folktronica and writing his own songs. Michelle, before taking up acting, frequently sang on various London stages.

The music they create together is timeless and classic. Though more reminiscent of Nashville Americana than UK folk, their impressionistic songs are modern and immediate, free from pastiche, enriched by their London realism.

This announcement coincides with their involvement in filming the third Downton Abbey movie, which was confirmed in May through a video of the cast’s reunion at a table read.

Michelle Dockery, who plays Lady Mary Crawley, expressed her excitement: “It feels amazing and emotional. It’s wonderful to be all back together again. We come back together and it feels like no time has passed at all. We’re so happy to announce that we’re in production for the third Downton Abbey movie, we can’t wait to see you.”

Joining her will be Elizabeth McGovern, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Phyllis Logan, Robert James-Collier, Joanne Froggatt, Allen Leech, Penelope Wilton, Lesley Nicol, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Kevin Doyle, and Douglas Reith.
