Drake Appears to Mock ScHoolboy Q After Toronto Show Cancellation

Drake seems to have taken a playful jab at ScHoolboy Q after the rapper’s Toronto show was unexpectedly canceled.

On Thursday, July 18, Drake appeared to poke fun at ScHoolboy Q following the abrupt cancellation of Q’s Blue Lips Weekend tour stop in Toronto. The TDE rapper was set to perform at History, a venue co-owned by Drake and Live Nation. After Q informed his fans about the cancellation, Drake shared a mirror selfie on his Instagram Story. In the photo, he is seen wearing blue crystal-encrusted slides, which seems to reference Q’s recent “Blue Slides” single from his Blue Lips album.

Adding to the subtle trolling, Drake wore a “Free Yayo” t-shirt, reminiscent of the one Eminem sported during the 2003 Grammy Awards while Tony Yayo was incarcerated.

The connection between the two artists doesn’t stop there. Tony Yayo had recently discussed the long-standing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar in a June interview with VladTV. Yayo warned Lamar’s associates to tread carefully when visiting Canada, hinting at potential complications due to Drake’s influence in the region.

“You can’t really give your opinion because n***as still wanna go to Canada,” Yayo commented. “You don’t wanna say something about Drake and now you can’t go to Canada. You got wild n***as in Canada like Pressa, Bun and Top5, all these wild n***as.”

At the same time, Yayo acknowledged the mutual risks involved, referring to the West Coast as the “grandfather of f**king gangbanging.”

On the other side, ScHoolboy Q’s response to his show’s cancellation reflected his frustration. The rapper took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday, July 17, to inform his followers about the news.

“THey just cancelled my sHow in TORONTO… CANADIAN POLICE DONT WANT NOBODY FROM TDE PERFORMING,” he wrote.

In a follow-up tweet, Q elaborated, “TOP was just wit Wayne & Baby smH partynextdoor just Had a sHow @ tHe palladium if we wanted to get yall we would’ve just did it. Now wHen sumbody get Hurt don’t cry…Actually I get it.. Nvm tHis sHit Lokey Hilarious…Iono wHy dot put me in tHat f**king video.”

Originally, ScHoolboy Q’s Blue Lips Weekends Tour was slated to commence in Toronto. With the cancellation, the tour will now kick off on July 20 in Chicago. Q’s tour itinerary includes stops in major cities like New York, Houston, Denver, and San Diego, before wrapping up in Seattle on August 11.

Drake’s playful jab at ScHoolboy Q and the unfolding events around the tour cancellation have added another chapter to the intricate dynamics of the hip-hop world. The interactions between artists and the underlying tensions, whether playful or serious, continue to captivate fans and media alike.
