Drake Bell Open to ‘Drake & Josh’ Reunion Despite ‘Quiet On Set’ Doc

Despite the recent “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” docuseries that detailed the sexual abuse he faced as a child actor, Drake Bell says he would be open to a “Drake & Josh” reunion.

The former “Amanda Show” actor revealed he had spoken with his Nickelodeon co-star Josh Peck about a new collaboration, though it wouldn’t be a direct revival of their beloved sitcom “Drake & Josh.”

“I would love to,” Bell said in an interview with The Patriot-News. “We’ve talked about it. But I also didn’t want to do it when everyone was doing the reboots.”

In recent years, Nickelodeon has revived several of their nostalgic properties from the 1990s and 2000s, including “Good Burger,” “Zoey 101,” and “iCarly,” which also starred “Drake & Josh’s” Miranda Cosgrove.

Bell, however, isn’t interested in merely replicating the past for nostalgia’s sake. He disagrees with the approach of doing a reboot just because it’s trendy.

“If we’re going to do something, it should be more special,” he added. “Let’s hit ’em with a bang instead of, ‘Oh, another reboot.'”

Bell does like the idea of reuniting with Peck on a new project. “I don’t think I would do us playing the characters from the show, or having [Cosgrove’s] Meg,” he explained. “I think, luckily for us, it’s our names, so we can still play Drake and Josh. But I think it’d be funnier if we go on to doing other buddy comedies, you know? Something that is kind of a surprise, a little different. It would be more interesting.”

In “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” the actor opened up publicly for the first time about being sexually abused by “Amanda Show” dialogue coach Brian Peck (no relation to Josh). Brian Peck served time in prison after his conviction for abusing a minor, although the identity of the minor had not been revealed until now.

“There’s been a ton of support,” Bell told The Patriot-News, discussing his decision to participate in the series. “And when you are diving into something like that, you are very trepidatious. It’s an emotional roller coaster. You don’t know how people are going to react, or what’s going to happen, or what the aftermath is going to be.”

Bell and Josh Peck starred together as step-siblings in “Drake & Josh” from 2004 to 2007. During that time, they also released two special episodes and a TV movie titled “Drake & Josh Go Hollywood” in 2006.

After the Nickelodeon sitcom ended, Bell shifted his focus toward his music career and voice acting. He notably voiced Peter Parker in several animated “Spider-Man” projects throughout the 2010s.

Although Josh Peck’s lack of an immediate public statement about “Quiet on Set” made some fans question if the two were on good terms, Bell reassured everyone that all is well. “I just want you guys to know that he has reached out to me, and it’s been very sensitive,” Bell said in a TikTok shortly after the documentary’s release. “He has reached out to talk with me and help me work through this, and has been really, really great.”
