ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Disney delighted fans with teasers for upcoming movies and television series, including “Moana 2,” during a lively showcase. The event featured sneak peeks, live performances, and surprise appearances from actors, creating an electrifying atmosphere.

At Disney’s D23 convention, CEO Bob Iger received a standing ovation as he welcomed the crowd on Friday. He expressed his enthusiasm for the projects in the pipeline, addressing the audience as “both the young and, as we like to say, the young at heart.”

“The world needs to be entertained maybe even more so now than ever before and we take that responsibility seriously,” Iger said, setting the stage for an evening full of excitement.

The event’s first big surprise came from “Moana” stars Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson. They wowed the audience of over 15,000 at the Honda Center with a live performance featuring drummers and dancers in costumes inspired by the beloved animated movie.

Both actors are reprising their roles as Moana and Maui in “Moana 2,” which is set for release on November 27. Before showing an extended sneak peek of the film, Johnson highlighted the personal significance of the project. His daughters, aged six and eight, were in the audience, adding a touching element to his announcement.

Johnson also revealed his continued involvement in Disney projects, announcing a “Monster Jam” live-action movie. However, no updates were given on another Disney venture he is part of—the live-action “Moana,” which is still in development.

The showcase successfully captured the audience’s imagination, fostering high expectations for Disney’s forthcoming slate of entertainment.
