Dylan Dreyer’s Husband Reflects on Poignant Family Moment before Big Change

Dylan Dreyer

Dylan Dreyer and her husband Brian Fichera warmly embrace parenthood with their three sons, cherishing their summertime moments together.

Over the weekend, Brian posted a heartfelt video on Instagram of their children Calvin and Rusty enjoying a stunning fireworks display by the waterfront. Waking them up to witness this beautiful spectacle, Brian captions the video: “One last ‘quick wake up the kids!’ moment of the summer.” Although their middle child, Oliver, isn’t seen in the video, he was likely part of the enchanting experience.

The beginning of the school year marks a significant change for Dylan and Brian’s family, with their youngest son Rusty, aged two, set to start school. Dylan expressed her bittersweet feelings about this transition in an emotional Instagram post earlier in August, stating, “Vacation mode…again! Enjoying one last hurrah before all THREE boys are in school in September!”

This summer has been packed with adventures for the family, including trips to Turks and Caicos and, more recently, South Carolina. Dylan, an NBC star, seems to make traveling with young children effortlessly manageable and shared her top travel tips in a recent interview. One of her key strategies is bringing grandparents along for the trip.

“If you can enlist someone else in your family… like my mother, and father-in-law will drop everything to travel with us, and it makes it so much easier to travel with grandparents,” she explains. “I’m very lucky to have grandparents who are willing to travel with us and help.”

Dylan encourages other parents to fully immerse themselves in the vacation experience, emphasizing the importance of relaxing and not stressing over daily chores or rigid schedules. “When you’re on vacation with your kids, you’re not home, you don’t have laundry to do, you don’t have bills to pay—just embrace the vacation. Stop thinking of all the things you want to do or have to do,” she advises.

Even simple activities can be immensely enjoyable for children, notes Dylan. “The kids are fine running up and down the hallway of the hotel. They’re fine jumping in the pool, even if it’s nothing fancy, if there’s a body of water, that’s all they want to do. So just go with the flow. Let them stay up late, watch TV, eat whatever they want—just let them call the shots, and it makes everything easier and less stressful for everyone involved.”

Dylan also hinted at a future possibility of moving abroad to the UK if the right opportunity arises. She was impressed by the availability of gluten-free products during her time reporting at Royal Ascot, which is particularly important to her due to her oldest son Calvin having celiac disease. Sharing a post about the gluten-free options she discovered, Dylan caught the attention of her followers.

Her reflections on this experience reveal a deep commitment to her family’s well-being. “I think it would be an easy transition if I ever were to go out there [to London]. My life revolves around my kids, especially considering Calvin’s celiac disease,” Dylan remarked. “It’s hard to feed him sometimes, and it would be fun to experiment and try to live there, seeing how much easier it would be.”
