Ed Sheeran Acquires Minority Stake in Hometown Club Ipswich

Singer Ed Sheeran has achieved what many football fans dream of by purchasing a minority stake in his hometown club, Ipswich Town, the newly-promoted Premier League side.

Sheeran’s share in the club stands at 1.4%. Despite this investment, he will not be joining the club’s board, Ipswich stated in a recent announcement. However, the singer will enjoy an executive box at Portman Road Stadium for home matches.

“I’m really excited to announce that I have bought a small percentage of my hometown football club Ipswich Town,” the 33-year-old artist posted on Instagram.

Sheeran added, “It’s any football fan’s dream to be an owner in the club they support, and I feel so grateful for the opportunity.”

The global superstar reminisced about his deep connections with the area, “I’ve lived in Suffolk since I was three, and although I have travelled the world and sometimes feel like an outsider in big cities, Suffolk and Ipswich have always made me feel part of a community and protected.” He expressed his joy in being a fan of Ipswich Town.

Ipswich Town secured an automatic promotion by finishing second in the English Championship last season. They are set to begin their Premier League campaign at home against Liverpool on Saturday.
