Eddie Murphy Reveals Surprising Thoughts on ‘The Golden Bachelor’

Just like many Americans, comedian Eddie Murphy tuned into The Golden Bachelor.

Initially envisioned as a groundbreaking addition to the Bachelor Nation, the show took an unexpected turn. Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist, who shared a televised marriage, ended their relationship after just three months.

Now, Eddie Murphy has shared his unfiltered thoughts on the breakup, and he is far from pleased.

Murphy was a guest on The Interview podcast, where he discussed various topics, including his reaction to The Golden Bachelor. He didn’t hold back, launching into an expletive-laden rant about the turn of events.

“Hey, they broke up, too. You know they broke up,” the Shrek star remarked about the leading couple. Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist announced their split in April after tying the knot in January.

“What kind of s— is that? Three months later. I watched that s—, I was like, ‘This is so nice, they found love in the second part of their lives. This is a nice show. Bravo!’ Then I find motherf—– broke up three months later. The same old s—,” Murphy shared.

It’s unclear whether Murphy will continue watching the series. Joan Vassos has been confirmed as the first Golden Bachelorette, hinting at at least one more season for the franchise.

Given the widespread disappointment following The Golden Bachelor, many fans wouldn’t be surprised if Eddie Murphy swore off Bachelor Nation shows altogether.

Even though many couples from the franchise have less-than-stellar track records, fans had genuinely high hopes for Gerry and Theresa.

Despite his disappointment over The Golden Bachelor, Murphy admitted to having a soft spot for reality television.

“It’s not hip stuff,” the actor confessed. “I’m not ashamed to say it. I watch every night, at 6 o’clock, right at dinner, I watch Steve Harvey and Family Feud. And on Tuesdays, I watch The Masked Singer.”

Murphy also mentioned that he and his partner, Paige Butcher, enjoy watching all sorts of competition shows, especially those centered on singing.

“I be like, ‘Nah, I ain’t supposed to be watching no s— like this. Then you say, ‘I wonder who that turtle is?’ That s— pull you in, you be wondering who it is,” Murphy humorously disclosed.
