Eighth Bull from Massachusetts Rodeo Caught After Exciting Chase

All eight bulls that escaped their enclosure during a rodeo event at a mall in Massachusetts have been recaptured. The final bull was caught in North Attleboro, near the Emerald Square Mall, after being on the loose for more than a day, according to the North Attleboro Fire Department, which announced the capture around 8:45 p.m. on Monday.

The rescue operation featured a thrilling chase, as local authorities pursued the bull as it ran through various stores and crossed busy Route 1. The animal was eventually guided into a trailer with the cooperative efforts of local officials, Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, and cowboys from a nearby rodeo, as detailed by the fire department.

New England Rodeo, who participated in the rescue efforts, noted on Facebook that the bull was “happy to be back with his brothers.” They shared that there was plenty of grain, hay, and water waiting for the bull inside the trailer, ensuring it was well taken care of following its adventurous escape.

The escapade began around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday when all eight bulls made their break from the rodeo’s temporary pen at the Emerald Square Mall in Attleboro, situated approximately 40 miles south of Boston and near the Rhode Island border.

Reports indicate that the bulls managed to break free, surging through the parking lot and jumping over the fence that enclosed the event. They then headed south towards the wooded area behind BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse. Video footage of the incident depicted the bulls racing across the parking lot and leaping over the fence before dashing toward a busy roadway.

Eye witnesses shared their astonishment at the sight. Samantha Beckman from the Wandering Paws K9 team, which specializes in locating missing pets, described the dramatic scene. She and her colleague Sam Aromin caught sight of one of the missing bulls behind a Lowe’s using thermal drones. Beckman revealed, “It was a wild goose chase. It was very, very intense,” as the bull was moving at an impressive speed of “20 miles-an-hour.”

Aromin noted the intensity of the scenario, adding that it was indeed “a really wild night,” expressing relief that both the bull and the people in the area emerged safely from the ordeal.

Authorities are still examining how the bulls orchestrated their escape. So far, no injuries have been reported either among the animals or bystanders during the chase.

This incident has left residents amused as they reflected on the outlandish circumstances surrounding the escape of the bulls. With all of the bulls now safely captured, local authorities can focus on ensuring that such an event does not occur again in the future. The unexpected event served as a reminder of the unpredictability inherent to livestock events held in populated areas.

As the dust settles following the bulls’ remarkable escapade, the community can now take a collective sigh of relief, knowing that these animals are back in safe hands. The humorous and adventurous nature of the chase has offered lighthearted moments amidst a potentially dangerous situation.

With the conclusion of the chase, there were also assurances that thorough investigations would be conducted to prevent any similar incidents from unfolding in the future, ensuring the safety of both animals and people at such events.
