In a poignant tribute to her late mother, Ella Bleu Travolta channels her emotions into the music video for “Little Bird,” a heartfelt song dedicated to Kelly Preston. The track will be featured on her upcoming EP, “Colors of Love.”

In a recent interview with People magazine, the 24-year-old singer shared her feelings about creating the music video and the comfort she found throughout the process. “I definitely felt (Preston) watching over me,” she remarked, reflecting on her mother’s enduring spirit. “I knew that she was really proud of this whole process and of me.”

As she crafted “Little Bird,” Travolta focused on her memories, tuning out external expectations and channeling her grief into something creative. “I grew up very much so in the public eye. And with that comes a lot of attention, especially when you lose someone,” she noted. Ella emphasized the duality of public support and the pressure to conform to societal expectations about how to mourn.

Describing the essence of “Little Bird,” Ella explained that the song captures the importance of cherishing pure relationships with those we have lost. “It’s sort of the viewpoint of a mama bird talking to a baby bird,” she revealed. While working on her EP, Ella started noticing birds more frequently, reinforcing her mother’s sentiment that these creatures signified a message from the beyond. “It had been a couple years, obviously, since my mom’s passing, so I could look at the whole situation and take a step back from it and see what I wanted to communicate on it and what I wanted to communicate to her,” she said.

Ella’s vision for the song also included a focus on celebration rather than just sorrow. “I really wanted it to also be a celebration of life,” she concluded, showcasing a mature perspective on grief.

The music video for “Little Bird” features a collection of cherished home videos, serving as a visual homage to the happy moments shared between Ella and her mother. “I think that’s so important, even when you lose someone, for it to be a celebration of their life because you got the chance to be with that person for as long as you did and you got to have these memories,” she reflected.

John Travolta, Ella’s father, shared an emotional tribute on social media after her passing, expressing his heartbreak and the impact of her fight. “She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many. In addition to Ella, the family includes two more children: Ben, who is currently 13, and Jett, who tragically passed away at 16 years old due to a seizure while the family vacationed together.
