Elle King Opens Up About Her Relationship With Dad Rob Schneider

Elle King recently opened up about her challenging relationship with her father, Rob Schneider, during a podcast appearance. King, known for her hit “Ex’s & Oh’s,” shared these personal insights while speaking with Bunnie Xo, wife of Jelly Roll, on the Dumb Blonde podcast, set to be released next week. Bunnie Xo gave fans a sneak peek of the conversation in a TikTok montage posted on August 10, capturing attention with the caption that King “doesn’t hold back!”

Bunnie Xo starts the montage by admitting that Schneider was “one of my childhood crushes,” a confession that surprised King. With her hands on her head, King exclaimed, “Oh, my gosh!”

King then candidly discussed her strained relationship with the former Saturday Night Live cast member. “I go for, like, four or five years without talking to my dad,” she explained.

The singer delved deeper, describing how she often felt “lost in the shuffle” during childhood summers spent on movie sets. It wasn’t until she was “much, much older” that they started to connect more.

Another poignant moment from the montage featured King recalling a significant, albeit painful, memory. “My dad forgot about every single birthday,” she shared. “I spent my 18th birthday in summer school, they brought me cupcakes, and I came home, and my dad forgot my birthday.”

By the end of the preview, Bunnie Xo mentioned that these revelations shattered the “fantasy” she had of the Home Alone 2: Lost in New York actor. “It’s done, it’s over with,” she said, adding, “I’m team Elle all day.”

This isn’t the first time King has opened up about her difficult relationship with her father. Earlier this week, she addressed it on the Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe podcast. According to People, King mentioned that she believes she avoided being labeled a “nepo baby” partly because she and her father “weren’t super close” when her music career began.
