Elle Macpherson Opens Up About Secret Cancer Battle and Refusing Chemo

Elle Macpherson is revealing her breast cancer diagnosis for the first time, which she received over seven years ago. Remarkably, she has chosen to reject conventional treatment.

The supermodel disclosed in her upcoming memoir, “Elle: Life, Lessons, and Learning to Trust Yourself,” that she will not undergo chemotherapy. Instead, she has opted for a holistic approach, a decision that has upset some of her loved ones.

Now in remission, Elle discusses her unconventional path while promoting her new book in Women’s Weekly. She described her diagnosis of ductal carcinoma in situ as “a shock.”

“It was unexpected, it was confusing, and it was daunting in so many ways,” she said. “It really gave me an opportunity to dig deep in my inner sense to find a solution that worked for me.”

Elle was initially advised to undergo a mastectomy, radiation, chemotherapy, and hormone therapy. However, she chose an “intuitive, heart-led, holistic approach” instead, rejecting chemo and surgery as “too extreme.”

“Saying no to standard medical solutions was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life,” she said. “But saying no to my own inner sense would have been even harder.”

Many, including her son Flynn, thought she was crazy for choosing this path. On the other hand, her son Cy never wanted her to undergo chemotherapy, fearing it was the “kiss of death.”

Elle’s non-traditional battle with cancer seems to have worked for her, allowing her to share her story and outcomes with the world.
