Eminem Drops The Death of Slim Shady (Coupe de Grâce) Album

Eminem has made a striking comeback with his newest album titled The Death of Slim Shady (Coupe de Grâce).

On Friday, July 12, Eminem officially dropped his 12th studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coupe de Grâce). This extensive 19-track project features collaborative efforts with notable artists such as JID, Big Sean, and BabyTron. A highlight of the album is a follow-up to the 1999 track, “Guilty Conscience.”

The buzz around the album started building with the release of the lead single “Houdini” on May 31. Fans were thrilled by its classic Eminem vibe. To increase the excitement, Slim accompanied the single with an entertaining music video, which he co-produced with Luis Resto. The track, which samples Steve Miller Band’s 1982 hit “Abracadabra,” is situated at the 11th position on the album. In addition, the recently released song “Tobey,” featuring Big Sean and BabyTron, is also included in the LP.

On Thursday, July 11, Eminem took to the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to offer some guidance on how to experience The Death of Slim Shady (Coupe de Grâce). In his tweet, the Grammy Award-winning rapper mentioned that the album is conceptual, encouraging listeners to play the tracks in order for the best experience. “Public service announcement: the ‘death of slim shady’ is a conceptual album,” Eminem typed. “Therefore, if you listen to songs out of order they might not make sense. Enjoy.”

This marks Eminem’s first album since 2020’s Music to be Murdered By, which featured artists like Juice Wrld, Ty Dolla $ign, and DJ Premier.

Eminem’s fans have been eagerly awaiting this release since Dr. Dre hinted at new Eminem music on Jimmy Kimmel Live! back in March. Eminem himself confirmed the news by releasing a trailer for The Death of Slim Shady during the 2024 NFL Draft. The anticipation grew even further when Em published an obituary for Slim Shady in the Detroit Free Press on May 14. The obituary, titled “Slim Shady Made Lasting Impressions,” detailed Slim Shady’s significant impact on the rap scene. It described him as a disruptive force in underground rap who became mainstream after his 1999 hit “My Name Is.”
