ESPN’s Monica McNutt Faces Backlash for Comments on Caitlin Clark

On Wednesday night, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever faced off against the Dallas Wings in a highly-anticipated regular-season contest.

The game was broadcast nationally on ESPN, featuring lead play-by-play voice Pam Ward and analyst Monica McNutt.

Fever fans, however, were not pleased with the ESPN broadcast team, specifically McNutt’s analysis.

Viewers took to social media to call out McNutt for her perceived “Caitlin Clark Hate” during the first half of Wednesday night’s broadcast.

Comments on social media ranged from, “Monica McNutt is such a hater lmao, obvious foul calls on Indiana and CC, but she thinks they all are questionable,” to “Monica McNutt def not a Clark fan lol.” Another viewer added, “Monica McNutt is a hater. She won’t give Caitlin Clark no credit. She gonna stand on her opinion and love for Angel Reese.”

One more social media post read, “Monica McNutt does not like CC and she doesn’t hide it lmao not sure who decided she should be calling any Fever games.”

The tension from the game was palpable as Clark and the Fever trailed the Wings 46-54 at the halftime break. Indiana’s No. 1 overall pick finished the first two quarters with an impressive 14 points, eight assists, and three rebounds.

Leading all scorers, Aliyah Boston contributed 20 points, showcasing her dominance in the game.
