Eugene and Dan Levy to be first father-son co-hosts at the Emmys

In a groundbreaking moment for the Emmy Awards, Eugene Levy and Dan Levy are set to co-host the ceremony next month, marking the first time a father and son duo will take on this role.

Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego expressed excitement over this unique hosting pair, stating that it brings together “two generations of comedy genius” to the Emmy stage.

The Levys have previously made a significant impact at the Emmy Awards, particularly in 2020, when their show “Schitt’s Creek” swept the ceremony. That year, they accepted their awards remotely due to pandemic restrictions. Eugene won the award for outstanding comedy actor, while Dan took home the best supporting comedy actor award. Dan also excelled in writing and directing, contributing to their show’s success as executive producers, which earned the outstanding comedy series trophy.

Reflecting on their previous experience, the Levys noted, “For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough.” They voiced their enthusiasm for celebrating another remarkable season of television entertainment.

This duo will not only be making history as the first father-son hosts of the Emmys; they will also be the first hosting duo since 2018, where previous hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che, known for their work on “Saturday Night Live,” held the honor.

The 76th Emmy Awards will take place live in Los Angeles on September 15, airing on ABC, with streaming available the next day on Hulu.

In addition to being a co-host, Eugene Levy has also received a nomination for his Apple TV+ series titled “The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy.” This show juxtaposes his typically cautious demeanor with some of the most stunning locations around the globe, creating a unique viewing experience.
