Eugene and Dan Levy to Co-Host Primetime Emmy Awards as First Father-Son Duo

From the beloved sitcom “Schitt’s Creek” to the prestigious stage of the Emmys, Eugene Levy and Dan Levy are gearing up for an exciting event. The father-and-son comedy duo will co-host the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards, scheduled to take place live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Their appearance at this year’s ceremony marks a historic occasion, as they will become the first father-son pair to host the event.

In a press release, the Levys expressed their enthusiasm for this unique opportunity. “For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” they shared. “We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all on Sept. 15.”

The Levy family has had a busy and remarkable year. Eugene Levy, 77, gained further recognition when he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier this year. He also joined the cast of Season 4 of Hulu’s hit series “Only Murders in the Building.” Despite his many accomplishments, Levy remains widely celebrated for his iconic roles in “Schitt’s Creek,” the “American Pie” series, and Christopher Guest’s mockumentaries, including “Best in Show.” He has also made a name for himself in the cult classic sketch series “SCTV,” alongside legendary figures such as Catherine O’Hara, John Candy, and Martin Short.

His son, Dan Levy, 40, not only co-starred in “Schitt’s Creek” but also served as its writer, producer, and director. He was instrumental in the show’s success, which earned a remarkable nine Emmy Awards. Earlier this year, Dan made his directorial debut with the Netflix film “Good Grief.” Eugene expressed his pride in his son’s work during an interview, sharing how moved he was by Dan’s film. In March, Eugene said, “It was so beautiful, and it was so beautifully written and just impeccably directed. And his performance as a dramatic actor, transitioning from ‘Schitt’s Creek’ is incredible. He’s an extremely talented young man.”

The anticipation is building as the Emmys approach, with viewers eager to see how the Levy duo will bring their signature humor to the show. They are poised to shine a light on the numerous talented individuals and exceptional productions celebrated this year. The awards ceremony will air live on ABC on September 15, with the option to stream it on Hulu the following day.

As the Levys prepare for this significant moment, fans of their work are looking forward to a memorable evening filled with laughter and heartfelt tributes to the television industry. This event not only showcases their talent but also emphasizes the strong bond between them as they take on this landmark hosting role together.
