Eugene and Dan Levy to Host the Emmy Awards

Eugene and Dan Levy are being considered to host the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards. The father-son pair have garnered substantial acclaim over the years, with Dan following in Eugene’s acting footsteps. In 2020, they made history by becoming the first father-son duo to win Emmys in the same year. According to Deadline, they may become the first father-son team to host the prestigious annual event.

Nominations for the 2024 Emmy Awards were announced last month, but a host hadn’t been revealed. Anthony Anderson hosted the 2023 Emmys in January, which were delayed due to strikes. Reportedly, the Levys are now in talks to host the 2024 ceremony, although negotiations are still ongoing, and no deal has been finalized.

Hosting an event together wouldn’t be a first for Eugene and Dan Levy. They previously co-hosted The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Eugene also showed his son support when Dan hosted Saturday Night Live in 2021. Both have become fan favorites, especially after Schitt’s Creek garnered nine Emmy wins over its six-season run.

Eugene Levy is actually nominated for the 2024 Emmys for Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special for his Apple TV+ series The Reluctant Traveler. This nomination adds to the 14 he has accumulated since the 1980s, with four wins. Dan Levy has been nominated for six Emmys since 2019, also with four wins. Their extensive experience with the Emmys would undoubtedly make for an entertaining hosting experience for both them and the audience.

While it’s not confirmed that Eugene and Dan Levy will host the Emmys, the possibility seems promising and it appears to be a fitting choice. Award show hosts can often be hit-or-miss, but with a dynamic duo like the Levys, the likelihood of success is high. An official announcement regarding the hosts of the 76th Emmys is expected soon.

For now, it’s a waiting game, but an announcement is anticipated to be worth it. The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on ABC coast-to-coast on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. ET.
