Eva Longoria Crafts New Tagline for Kamala Harris: ‘She Se Puede’

Eva Longoria, Hollywood actress, producer, and philanthropist, took the stage on the final night of the Democratic convention, which concluded on Thursday. Longoria drew parallels between her own upbringing and that of Vice President Kamala Harris, emphasizing the role of family in helping Americans achieve their goals. She noted that achieving success often requires “touching every rung of the ladder.”

Concluding her speech, Longoria introduced a new tagline for Harris’ campaign, adapting the Spanish phrase “Sí se puede,” which translates to “Yes, we can.” Her updated version is “She se puede.”

Longoria is a renowned actress and producer who uses her influential platform to advocate for issues close to her heart, specifically focusing on empowering Latina women. Through her advocacy work, she strives to engage voters as the election draws near. She highlighted the powerful support from families in her speech:

“Kamala and I were able to see beyond the horizon because our families supported our big dreams. Well, guess what? As Americans, we’re all part of one big family. Somos familia. And as familia, we have to have each other’s back. We have to support each other’s dreams, because Kamala’s success is our success.”

The Democratic National Convention took place from August 19-22 in Chicago, Illinois, with the main venue being the United Center, home to the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks. This was the 11th time Chicago has hosted the Democratic Convention, the last being in 1996 when President Bill Clinton was nominated for a second term.

The convention was streamed live on its website from the United Center in Chicago. The events aired from 6:15 p.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern on Monday and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern on the other days. USA TODAY provided live coverage on YouTube each night of the convention.

The DNC announced distinct themes for each night of the convention under the title “For the People, For Our Future.” These were:

• Monday: “For the People”
• Tuesday: “A Bold Vision for America’s Future”
• Wednesday: “A Fight for our Freedoms”
• Thursday: “For our Future”
