Richard Simmons has been laid to rest in Los Angeles, a solemn event marked by a gravesite surrounded by flowers. Photos of the site reveal an array of floral arrangements, including a massive bouquet of roses, showcasing the love and respect he garnered throughout his life.

Richard, the beloved fitness guru, passed away at his home on July 13 at the age of 76. Sources revealed to TMZ that a fall in his bathroom might have been a contributing factor to his demise. His housekeeper reportedly tried to convince him to visit a doctor after the fall, but he declined, not wanting to do so on his birthday.

The fitness icon was interred at the Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary last week. The event was intimate, attended by close family members, and marked the end of an era for those who looked up to Richard as a source of inspiration in their fitness journeys.

According to In Touch, the Los Angeles Medical Examiner completed Richard’s autopsy, but the cause of death remains undetermined as further tests are required. The Los Angeles Police Department has initiated an investigation into his death but does not suspect any foul play.

Fans were stunned by Richard’s sudden passing, especially since he was active on social media just a day before his death, responding to birthday wishes from his followers. In one of his final social media posts, Richard expressed gratitude for the support he had received over the years.

“When I taught class at Slimmons, on my birthday they would have special cakes made for me,” Richard reminisced in his post. “One was a sheet cake airbrushed with my picture on it. One was a Barbie doll and her dress was the cake. Also, what about that cake with a big Disco ball on top? It was my birthday when we taped ‘Groovin in the House’… that one was a three-dimensional three-foot cake in the shape of one of my Dalmatians. You know I cried.”

Richard also expressed his heartfelt thanks to his fans, saying, “So many of you have sent me birthday wishes on my Facebook and other platforms. I really appreciate that. I don’t know when your birthday is but I wish you a happy and healthy birthday!”

His brother, Lenny Simmons, worked to console Richard’s fans through a message on Richard’s social media account. He encouraged fans to celebrate Richard’s life rather than mourn. “I don’t want people to be sad about my brother. I want them to remember him for the genuine joy and love he brought to people’s lives. He truly cared about people. He called, wrote, and emailed thousands of people throughout his career to offer help,” Lenny shared.

Lenny concluded with an emotional plea: “So don’t be sad. Celebrate his life! He was very excited about all of the upcoming ventures he was working on. We are in shock. Please respect the family at this difficult time.”

Richard had kept a low profile for nearly a decade before his passing. He was never married and had no children, but he did leave behind a significant seven-figure real estate portfolio for his family. His legacy, much like his flower-covered gravesite, stands as a testament to the widespread impact he had on people’s lives.
