False Claims of Simone Biles’ Retirement and Pregnancy Debunked

Simone Biles has sidestepped questions about retiring after the Paris Olympics, emphasizing that her focus remains on the competition and she hasn’t made any definite decisions about her future.

Nonetheless, some fans were confused by a viral post on X which falsely claimed that Biles had not only announced her retirement but also shared the news of her pregnancy.

The post garnered nearly 2,000 likes and hundreds of shares before earning a community note labeling it false.

“This is false. Simone Biles has not announced retirement, nor that she is pregnant. With respect to retirement, reliable media sources say Biles said ‘never say never’ about potentially competing in the 2028 Olympics,” read the note attached to the post.

The renowned gymnast has clearly left her options open regarding her future. After clinching a gold medal in the vault by completing the Yurchenko double pike, a move known as the “Biles II,” Biles indicated a possible return to the Olympics in 2028.

“Is this my last? Definitely the Yurchenko double pike,” Biles mentioned, via reporter Emily Giambalvo on X. “I kind of nailed that one. Never say never. The next Olympics is at home, so you just never know. But I am getting really old.”

Biles has also hinted at a future family, expressing during an appearance on the Today show that she could see herself having children with her husband, Jonathan Owens.
