Fan-Favorite from Hawai’i Might Return to Main Series

When NCIS: Hawai’i filmed its last season, the creators were unaware it would be the show’s end. The season provided much closure but concluded with a cliffhanger, teasing fans about what could come next. Although the series won’t continue, the story might not be over.

The cliffhanger could still find resolution in the main NCIS series.

NCIS: Hawai’i wrapped up with a suspenseful moment involving Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey). While some storylines reached a conclusion, such as Sam Hanna’s (LL Cool J) farewell party, the series left viewers with more questions. Jane returned home expecting to see her daughter, but instead found Maggie Shaw (Julie White) on her couch. Maggie, Jane’s mentor who hadn’t appeared since Season 1, ominously said, “You’re probably going to need a drink for what’s coming next.” CBS’s cancellation of the series left many wondering about the unresolved plot.

However, there is speculation that NCIS could continue Jane’s story. Crossovers have occurred among the different NCIS shows before. In fact, when NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i previously collaborated, a romantic connection developed between Jane Tennant and Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama). Although Nick had unresolved feelings for Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham), which stalled their relationship, this intersection creates an opportunity for Jane to appear on the main NCIS show.

With Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) possibly leaving the primary series, there’s a need for another strong female character. Given that Maggie’s cliffhanger warning to Jane could relate to something happening outside Hawai’i, this could easily bring Jane into the main storyline. This move would delight fans who followed Hawai’i till the end and were left with unanswered questions.

Even if Vanessa Lachey’s character returns briefly to complete her arc, it would serve to resolve fans’ disappointment over the abrupt end. It’s a plausible and satisfying solution for viewers who are eager to know what was meant by Maggie’s cryptic message.
