Fandango Acquires ‘Anywhere Anytime’ with ‘Bicycle Thieves’ Vibe – Watch Trailer

Fandango Film Sales has acquired all rights to Iranian director Milad Tangshir’s debut feature film “Anywhere Anytime.” The film is set to premiere at the Venice Critics’ Week and TIFF’s Centrepiece section.

“Anywhere Anytime” draws inspiration from Vittorio De Sica’s neorealist classic “Bicycle Thieves,” but updates the story to a contemporary setting. The film follows Issa, a young Senegalese illegal immigrant living in Turin. After losing his job because his employer fears police fines, Issa finds work as a food-delivery rider. This job provides him with a fleeting sense of security and freedom until his bike is stolen. The film chronicles Issa’s desperate journey across the city to recover his stolen bicycle.

Born in Tehran in 1983, Tangshir moved to Italy in 2011 after releasing three albums with the Iranian rock band Ahoora. Since relocating, he has directed several short fiction films and documentaries, including the virtual reality documentary “VR Free,” which screened at both Venice and Sundance film festivals.

In his director’s statement, Tangshir described “Anywhere Anytime” as an exploration of the fear and constant anxiety experienced by those living on the margins of society. “The protagonist lives an invisible life, one of the many we cross paths with every day,” he stated.

He emphasized the extreme vulnerability faced by such individuals, noting how even a simple bicycle can be the difference between surviving or not.

“Anywhere Anytime” is produced by Marta Donzelli and Gregorio Paonessa’s Vivo Film, along with Roberto De Paolis and Carla Altieri’s Young Films, and RAI Cinema.
