Fans criticize Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend for celebrating birthday in Las Vegas

Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, has come under scrutiny for celebrating his birthday in Las Vegas while the WNBA rookie was in Minnesota for work commitments.

Controversial comedian Theo Von posted on social media, showing the 26-year-old McCaffery partying at a day club, surrounded by scantily-clad bottle girls. “Dress for the future u want,” Von captioned a clip on his Instagram Story, taken at Encore Beach Club over the weekend.

Fans quickly reacted, with one writing on X, “Get him away from CC this instant she deserves better,” while another commented, “That’s not what my queen deserves.” Another user wrote, “So he ain’t even want to spend his bday with her in Indy? Noted.”

However, some defended McCaffery. One fan wrote, “Has no one ever went out and had fun on their birthday? Friends surprised him with this. It’s hilarious. Just let people have fun and laugh. Everyone has to make something out of nothing All. The. Time.”

Earlier in the weekend, Clark playfully teased McCaffery when she shared a heartfelt birthday tribute. The couple, who both played basketball at the University of Iowa, began dating before Clark became famous nationwide.

The Indiana Fever rookie joked about some friendly competition between the pair as McCaffery turned 26. “Happy Birthday Con! Celebrating you is easy 🙂 thankful to have someone as selfless and as loving as you in my life,” she wrote. “May this be the year you finally find a way to outshoot me 😉 Love you always.”

McCaffery humorously responded, “And I’ll keep letting you win those shooting contests!!!!!”

Clark posted four photos in the Instagram carousel, including one of her beau kissing her forehead and another of them hugging on the court.

Meanwhile, there is news that the Fever rookie, initially left off the USA Olympic roster, could have a chance to participate in the Paris Olympics. Diana Taurasi’s leg injury might open the door for Clark.

The six-time Olympian and Phoenix Mercury guard Taurasi has missed her team’s last four WNBA games due to the injury.
