Fans Dub Viral Twist on Strawberry Shortcake as ‘Heavenly’

This trendy dessert is straightforward, budget-friendly, and absolutely delicious. Content creator Gloyoyo recently shared it on her TikTok page, and people were thrilled.

Some commenters mentioned that it reminded them of Japanese fruit sandos, which are crafted using soft white bread, whipped cream, and fruit. Typically, Japanese fruit sandos are layered so that the fruit forms an attractive pattern when sliced in half. Other users likened the dessert to a “snackified eclair” or a “strawberries and cream hoagie.”

This version of the viral strawberry shortcake consists of just three ingredients: chocolate chip Pan Au Lait from Trader Joe’s (though pan au lait can be found elsewhere), strawberries, and whipped cream.

Glo suggests warming the pan au lait by toasting it in a pan with some butter, but she notes that this step is optional. She remarks in her video that during a “snack emergency,” there isn’t time for toasting bread.

To make the sandwich, she slices the roll open like a hot dog bun, then layers a few strawberry slices on one side. She tops the berries with canned whipped cream and adds a few more strawberry slices on top.

She then closes the bun and eats it—it’s that simple!
