NEW YORK (AP) — Will Maya Rudolph’s portrayal of Vice President Kamala Harris return to “Saturday Night Live?”

Speculation has surged since President Joe Biden announced his election news, but the “SNL” alum has a busy acting schedule these days.

Rudolph recently received four Emmy nominations for her work across three different shows: “Loot” on Apple TV+, “Big Mouth” on Netflix, and two nominations for hosting “SNL.”

She portrayed Harris several times as a guest on “SNL” in 2019 during the 2020 presidential election cycle. Rudolph was a cast member of the NBC show from 2000 to 2007.

The “Bridesmaids” actor won an Emmy for her Harris portrayal in December 2019 during a cold open of the PBS Democratic debate, shortly after Harris exited the presidential race. She first introduced her version of Harris earlier that year during a town hall skit, describing the character as “America’s cool aunt, a fun aunt, a ‘funt.’”

Her Emmy-winning performance included a nod to Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” with the line: “I just want to show you how good you could’ve had it, America. You withheld your donations, and I got tired of waiting, so I walked my fine ass out the door.” Rudolph then sang: “You coulda had a bad bitch.”

Since Biden stepped aside and Democratic leaders backed Harris as their presidential nominee ahead of the party’s convention starting August 19 in Chicago, calls for Rudolph to return to the role have overwhelmed social media.

The 50th season of “SNL” premieres on September 28. An NBC spokesperson mentioned there are no discussions about Rudolph returning since the show is on hiatus. An email request for comment to Rudolph wasn’t immediately returned Monday.
