Fans of Krista Allen want her back after Taylor Hayes recast

The moment that Krista Allen fans dreaded has arrived. Taylor Hayes, a beloved character on *The Bold and the Beautiful*, has been recast. Rebecca Budig has stepped into the role. Although we haven’t seen much of her portrayal yet, four-time Daytime Emmy nominee Budig is expected to deliver an outstanding performance. Nevertheless, the main concern is whether viewers will experience the same magic that Allen brought to the character.

Allen faced initial pushback when she joined the soap. Longtime fans had strong feelings about Hunter Tylo, who originated the role and played Taylor for nearly two decades. However, Allen quickly won people over with her talent, exceptional line delivery, and ability to imbue Taylor with both passion and vulnerability. Her on-screen chemistry with Thorsten Kaye was so extraordinary that it rekindled interest in the “Tridge” ship, bringing new fans on board to a decades-long storyline.

Even when storylines left us wary, like Tridge’s near wedding or the Braylor friendship that split viewers, we were deeply invested in Taylor’s journey. That made Allen’s departure more painful, especially when it was revealed that it wasn’t her decision to leave. Regarding her exit, Allen shared:

“The craziest thing is right before I got dropped, I did the cast photo shoot, and then the next week they called and said, ‘we’re not going to keep your third year and thank you very much, you were wonderful and thank you, goodbye.’ And I was like, what? I think the hardest thing for me has been trying to stay quiet. I haven’t known what to say. And then when I got dropped, I was like, ‘oh, okay, is the show going to announce this?’ But they never did. And then on December 10, just recently, it was Taylor’s two-year anniversary [of being back on show], and I came back to Twitter for the first time since June to engage with fans again, just to say thank you because there were so many congratulations and people saying, ‘I can’t wait to see you back on screen’ and ‘when are you coming back?’”

Throughout her run, Allen actively engaged with fans on social media, creating an online community that everyone enjoyed together. This fan engagement has led to an outpouring of support and calls for her return, especially as Taylor’s adult children, Steffy and Thomas, went through hardships without their mother.

A search for Allen’s name on social media platforms like X shows a mix of fan reactions. Some praise Budig’s talent but wish Allen was still in the role. Others believe Allen was the perfect actress for Taylor and can’t be replaced. One fan even expressed that they now understand how Hunter Tylo fans felt when Allen took over.

This observation is critical because we are just starting to see Budig’s portrayal of Taylor. Her dynamic with other characters is yet to be fully explored, and whether it will resonate with fans is still uncertain. Actors come and go in soaps; some become definitive in their roles, while others might be serviceable or seem miscast.

What remains true is that Krista Allen left a lasting impression on *The Bold and the Beautiful*. Now, it’s Budig’s turn to bring Dr. Taylor Hayes to life. She might just be the spark the soap needs and has missed without Taylor.
