Fans of ‘My Lady Jane’ Start Online Campaign to Save Prime Video Series

Earlier this month, Prime Video confirmed the cancellation of the historical fiction series My Lady Jane after just one season, marking the end of its run less than two months after its debut. Despite not being a major ratings hit, the show received positive reviews from critics and garnered a loyal fanbase. Fans, determined to see the series continue, have now launched an online campaign to save it from this untimely end.

According to EW, fans of My Lady Jane have mobilized to petition Prime Video to reverse their decision. They have already amassed over 20,000 signatures on a petition hosted on Change.org. The campaign doesn’t stop at the petition; there is also a Linktree with additional steps to support the cause. Fans are encouraged to rate the series on IMDb and other review sites, follow related groups, and use an email template to send messages directly to Amazon’s COO, Albert Cheng. There’s even a GoFundMe campaign for a surprise effort intended to boost the initiative. Interestingly, the petition started before the series’ cancellation was officially announced.

The petition on Change.org highlights the show’s significance, stating, “My Lady Jane, the fascinating adaptation on Amazon Prime, has garnered widespread acclaim and quickly built a passionate fan base. After a successful first season, viewers are undoubtedly craving a follow-up. Amazon Prime has yet to officially announce a second season, leading many fans to uncertainty and disappointment.”

The petition continues, “The popularity of the show is evident as it ranks particularly well amongst viewers. Renewing My Lady Jane would not just please fans, it would also generate a significant amount of traffic and viewership benefits for the streaming platform. We are calling upon Amazon Prime to listen to the voices of fans around the globe and confirm the renewal of My Lady Jane for a second season. Show your support for this unique storytelling, sign this petition to demand the return of My Lady Jane.”

My Lady Jane is based on the 2016 novel of the same name by Jodi Meadows, Brodi Ashton, and Cynthia Hand. The story centers on Lady Jane Grey (Emily Bader), the young Tudor noblewoman who was Queen of England for nine days before her execution in 1553. However, the series offers an alternate approach to history, retelling it as if the damsel in distress saves herself. The narrative blends elements of action, history, fantasy, comedy, romance, and adventure, promising a unique viewing experience.

The cast of My Lady Jane features Edward Bluemel as Lord Guildford Dudley, Anna Chancellor as Lady Frances Grey, Rob Brydon as Lord Dudley, Jordan Peters as King Edward VI, Kate O’Flynn as Princess Mary, Abbie Hern as Princess Bess, Henry Ashton as Lord Stan Dudley, Dominic Cooper as Lord Seymour, and Jim Broadbent as the Duke of Leicester.

Although details about a potential second season of My Lady Jane are scarce, the book series offers plenty of material for future adaptations. There are two additional installments: one focusing on Jane Austen’s protagonist Jane Eyre and another revolving around Wild West folk hero Calamity Jane. Additionally, there’s a spinoff centered on Mary, Queen of Scots, titled My Contrary Mary.

Fans remain hopeful that their collective efforts will convince Prime Video to reconsider the cancellation and give My Lady Jane another chance to charm audiences with its unique storytelling and compelling characters.
