Fans Outraged by Sha’Carri Richardson’s Unexpected Absence from Netflix Project

Given the overwhelming success of the Netflix docuseries “Sprint,” it’s no surprise that the streaming service has decided to produce a second season.

Scheduled to debut on November 13, Season 2 of “Sprint” will showcase many of the world’s top track and field athletes. However, one notable athlete will be absent: Sha’Carri Richardson. The two-time Olympic medalist was a key figure in the first season, even having a full episode dedicated to her gold-medal win in the 100m event at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.

Richardson captured gold in the 4×100-meter relay and silver in the 100 meters at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She remains one of the most recognizable names in the sport today. Her absence from the highly anticipated second season of “Sprint” has left fans perplexed.

The first season of “Sprint” garnered 2.4 million views in its first week on Netflix and quickly became the sixth-most watched series globally. Given these impressive figures, one would assume that Netflix would want to continue featuring one of the most talked-about stars in track and field.

Citius Mag reported that it reached out to Netflix for clarification on why Richardson wasn’t included in the lineup for Season 2. As of now, no response has been provided.

Among the notable runners who will appear in the upcoming season are 100m gold medalist Noah Lyles, 200m gold medalist Letsile Tebogo, 200m gold medalist Gabby Thomas, 200m silver medalist Kenny Bednarek, and 100m gold medalist Julien Alfred, among others.
