Fans Rave Over Ina Garten’s ‘Glamorous’ Throwback Beach Photo

Fans are raving over the sweet, summery photo taken decades ago that Ina Garten revisited while doing research for her forthcoming memoir.

As the celebrity chef explained in a recent post on Instagram, the research portion of her memoir-writing process gave her an opportunity to touch base with some of her old friends, including one named Janet. Reuniting “was so much fun after 60 years!!” she exclaimed in her post on Sunday, Sept. 1.

The Barefoot Contessa host revealed that her friends “were like a lifeline” for her during childhood as she faced “a pretty difficult life at home.” She then explained a bit of the story behind the throwback photo that she posted, which showed her and Janet smiling at each other while sitting on a beach.

Garten, now 76, wore a polka dot swimsuit and held a pen, a piece of paper, and a book in her lap. Janet, meanwhile, wore a pink and white checkered two-piece while lounging on the sand beside her.

Though Garten did not identify the exact beach where the photo was taken, she said it was somewhere in New Jersey, where Janet’s parents vacationed. “I had just met Jeffrey,” Garten added, referring to her husband, “so my guess is that I’m writing a letter to him!”

The post’s comment section was packed with notes from fans applauding the “gorgeous” snapshot.

“What a glamorous photo! ❤️,” one fan wrote.

“Such a classy picture,” one Instagram user said as another praised Garten’s “beautiful style 💗.”

“Such an adorable photo and both yours and Janet’s bathing suits are fabulous!” one fan gushed.

Several Instagram users also wrote in to express how much they are looking forward to Garten’s new book, with many assuring the Food Network star that they have already pre-ordered their copies. The memoir, Be Ready When the Luck Happens, is expected out on Oct. 1.
