Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on August 20, just a few months after their official separation date in April. While the specific reasons for their split haven’t been confirmed, fans believe they have identified key moments when Affleck realized he no longer wanted to be married to Lopez.

For several weeks, speculation about the state of Affleck and Lopez’s relationship was rampant online. The couple, who were living apart and missed their second wedding anniversary in July, fueled rumors with their separate lives—Lopez in the Hamptons and Affleck in Los Angeles. Fans were left wondering if they would reconcile or end their relationship for good. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the latter.

Many internet users doubted the couple’s longevity, pointing to signs from their past interactions. Three specific instances were highlighted by fans as evidence of the couple’s impending split.

One viral video particularly caught people’s attention. Captured by The Hollywood Fix, it shows Affleck leading Lopez to their car. In the clip, Affleck opens the car door for Lopez and waits until she’s seated before shutting the door with a noticeable force. He then tells the paparazzi, “I think you got it,” before getting into the driver’s seat.

One viewer commented, “The fact that he said, ‘I think you got it,’ to the pap after slamming that door meant he really had it. He wasn’t even putting on a front with his frustration knowing this was being filmed.” Others echoed this sentiment, with one saying, “Oh, I think we def all knew then.”

He continued, “I was like, you’ve been showing all the musicians all those letters… and they were like, ‘Yeah, we call you Pen Affleck.’ And I was like, ‘Oh my god.’” Affleck admitted to finding irony in the situation, noting, “If you’re making a record about it, that seems kind of like telling it.”

Lopez filed for divorce in the Los Angeles County Superior Court on August 20, citing April 26 as their official separation date. The couple had tied the knot in July 2022, 19 years after calling off their initial engagement.
