‘First Clip of Joan in “The Golden Bachelorette”‘

In a first look at ABC’s “The Golden Bachelorette,” leading lady Joan Vassos describes the type of man she is seeking—a gentleman who is humble, has a big heart, and is generous. The Golden Bachelorette is shown cooking and dining with her family in the promo video, expressing her gratitude for their support throughout the show’s journey.

“I’m not here to replace dad,” Vassos reassures her kids and family in the video. “I just want our family to be whole again.”

Named the first leading lady of the series in May 2024, Vassos is 61 years old and appeared as a contestant on the first season of “The Golden Bachelor” in September 2023. A school administrator from Rockville, Md, she has four kids and two grandkids, and was widowed after 32 years of marriage.

In response to her daughter Ally’s query about how she feels about kissing another man besides her late husband on TV, Vassos admits she’ll have to “get used to that.”

“I’m going to probably kiss a fair amount of guys on camera,” Vassos mentions about the reality dating show. “I’m sorry guys.”

Season 21 of “The Bachelorette,” starring Jenn Tran, is currently airing. New episodes premiere on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET and are available on Hulu the following day.

“The Bachelor” franchise is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in collaboration with Warner Horizon, with Claire Freeland, Jason Ehrlich, Bennett Graebner, and Andrew Frank serving as executive producers.
